Plus its not an over heating issue either as it does it at various temps.

This has been happening since day one and my computer well above meets the specs. I play fine on my laptop but I would really like to play on like my pc built for gaming. Getting really annoyed with this problem since its been going on Sony VGN-A170 ALPS Pointing the game came out and nothing has happened yet to fix it: At the start, the card was 40 degrees, and in two hours of play, it maxed at 83 deg Celsius with sustained play, and there Sony VGN-A170 ALPS Pointing no crash. Tonight, I went to play -- same area of Korriban, and going on my temperature theory I actually UNDERclocked my card from down to MHz core clock, thinking 83 was getting pretty hot and maybe slowing the card down a bit would improve stability, right?

Get this Sony VGN-A170 ALPS Pointing this time I'm guessing if I'd let it run just a little while longer it would have locked up when the temperature got critical. One may jump to the conclusion that this is a problem with my display adapter's cooling, but I don't think so. Anyone have any idea how this could happen?

I have some coding experience Sony VGN-A170 ALPS Pointing have never done anything involving graphics subsystems. Some kind of a race condition? I don't suppose there's any way that the game could be interfering with GPU temp detection or fan control I just don't know.

If it stays cool, I'll try again with automatic control and see if I can log it so I can see if the fan speed increases appropriately as the card heats up. I'll post a new version of my DxDiag with the next post, when I report my results. Hope someone has some explanation for how this can happen. While I was running back to the Sith academy, the temp -- which was hovering around 90C in the battle -- rapidly rose toat which point the system locked up. Considering the fact that no other games or benchmarks -- no matter how hard I press them -- can get my card to overheat like that even when significantly underclockedthere has to be some condition caused by the game that's allowing that to happen -- unless anyone can think of another explanation.

This card is less than 6 months old, and since I've seen others with GTX s and s in here having Sony VGN-A170 ALPS Pointing same problems, I can't justify replacing the card and trading up just for SWTOR's sake.

Even if I upgrade, it seems there's no guarantee that the same thing won't continue to happen. Once only I had a small glitch and since it happen only once I classified it as a glitch. Sony VGN-A170 ALPS Pointing

I was considering changing graphic card but looking at the long list of DXDiags and the cards involved, its obvious the cards are not the problem. Already posted my info regarding the frequency and dxdiag. As I said before I had the same issue with Wow, but managed to solve it when I change the option in the wow client to use Directx11 instead of Directx9. Now I found out on dell forums that other dell users are having the Sony VGN-A170 ALPS Pointing issue. Any game played on directx9 creates a system lockup.

DRIVER: SONY VGN-A170 ALPS POINTING

I think Swtor client uses directx9. Sony VGN-A170 ALPS Pointing I guess this issue won't be solved for me until they upgrade the client to be able to use directx Found an article that they are using directx9 since they want to be sure to support the wider market, but maybe in the future they'll make directx11 usable.

Maybe this directx11 issue if affecting a wider system configurations other than dell users. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't Sony VGN-A170 ALPS Pointing how to disable it, please ask.
